Promptchan AI beginner guide: image workflow and Tweak edits

Use an original non-explicit portrait brief, acceptance checklist and attempt log to learn Promptchan’s image workflow without uncontrolled regeneration.

Editorial note: This article uses public documentation and editorial analysis. We have not completed hands-on testing of the products discussed. Our methodology Disclosure

For a first Promptchan AI image-generation project, choose one small result you can judge clearly. This beginner workflow uses the image generator to create a usable character portrait with a controlled attempt budget. A non-explicit portrait for a fictional character is enough to learn the workflow. Define the crop, visual style and acceptance conditions before generating, then change one thing at a time.

The provider’s public guides were checked September 15, 2026. The project brief and evaluation method below are original editorial examples. We have not generated these samples in Promptchan or measured the service’s success rate.

Promptchan AI beginner workflow: write the image brief

Use an original fictional adult subject and a practical purpose. For this example, imagine a small illustrated profile card for a travel-journal character. The subject is 34, fully clothed, wearing a dark jacket, with a calm expression and a simple background. The card needs to remain legible at phone size.

This is an asset brief, not an erotic prompt or a claim about a particular model’s output. The purpose gives you a reason to prefer one result over another. Without it, every attractive image can pull the project in a different direction.

Acceptance checklist for the example card
RequirementAccept whenRevise when
CompositionThe face and shoulders remain clear in the intended cropThe crop removes a feature needed for the card
IdentityThe adult fictional character has a coherent appearanceImportant identifying details conflict
BackgroundIt supports the subject without visual clutterIt distracts from the profile
Small-screen useThe image reads at the final display sizeUseful detail disappears when reduced

How to use Promptchan: Create, settings and Tweak

The official beginner guide describes starting on Create, choosing a style, adjusting settings and generating. It also describes Tweak for revising an existing result. Inspect the current controls and the Gem charge for your chosen action before confirming it.

Start with one style and one composition. The first goal is to learn how the available controls affect the brief, not to compare every model in the menu. Keep optional choices unchanged until you have a reason to adjust them.

If the interface gives you a choice between a single result and a batch, read the displayed total cost. A batch can be convenient, but it can also multiply spending before you know whether the brief is clear enough.

AI image-generation budget: set an attempt limit

Choose a maximum number of attempts you are comfortable spending on the exercise. Six is a reasonable example for a worksheet, but it is not a provider recommendation or a prediction of how many attempts you will need. Set your own limit from the current cost and available balance.

Record each attempt in four columns: settings changed, cost, result accepted and reason. Keep the reason specific, such as “background too busy” or “crop does not work.” A vague “try again” gives you no basis for the next change.

At the halfway point, stop and review the record. If several attempts fail for the same reason, refine the brief or the relevant setting. If failures are unrelated and you cannot identify a useful adjustment, pausing may be more sensible than buying more Gems.

Customize the image: change one variable at a time

Suppose the composition works but the background distracts. Keep the character and framing stable while adjusting the background direction. If the next result improves, you have learned something useful. If you change the style and crop at the same time, that lesson becomes much less clear.

A revision record might read: “Version 1: clear face, background too detailed. Version 2: simpler background, same intended crop. Result: card reads better at mobile size.” This is a hypothetical log, not output we generated. It illustrates the kind of observation that makes repeated attempts purposeful.

When using an edit or Tweak feature, review the whole result afterwards. A change to one area can still alter another detail. Do not accept a revision solely because it fixed the problem you were looking at.

Evaluate AI character portraits at their final display size

A full-screen image can look impressive while failing as a small card. Compare candidates at the actual intended size. Favor a clear silhouette, a readable expression and a composition that survives the crop.

Save the best acceptable result and the brief that produced it. Avoid continuing simply because one more attempt might be slightly better. A project with a clear finish condition is easier to budget and easier to repeat.

Check privacy and reuse before sharing

The provider’s overview describes private-generation options and a community gallery. Confirm the visibility setting before creating or publishing. Private generation, public sharing and rights to reuse an asset elsewhere are separate questions.

Use your own fictional subject and retain the original brief. If you use a community example as inspiration, do not assume it grants permission for every kind of reuse. Check the current terms for your intended publication or commercial project.

Decide whether Promptchan AI fits the image project

At the end, count the accepted results, total attempts and Gems spent. Also note how much manual selection or revision the task required. That gives you a more useful basis for choosing a plan than a gallery of other people’s best images.

The image-generator buying guide covers broader comparisons. If you later explore motion, use the video guide to define a separate task and budget. Learning one workflow well is a sensible first step before adding another.

Promptchan beginner questions

Is creating a portrait the same as creating an AI girlfriend chat?

No. Image creation establishes visual material; a custom AI character conversation also needs identity, a premise and an opening you can answer. Promptchan documents both image and chat workflows, but success with one does not establish the other.

When should a beginner try AI video?

After defining a separate motion task and checking the video generator’s selected duration, resolution and Gem quote. A still portrait is a possible starting asset, not evidence that a clip will preserve identity or move as intended. Use a fresh attempt budget so video experiments do not consume the image project’s reserve unnoticed.

Should you switch visual styles during the same comparison?

Keep one style constant while learning the controls. Realistic and anime presentations solve different visual goals, so start another small series when the goal changes. That makes your revision notes interpretable rather than combining unrelated outputs into one success rate.
